Review

‘This album is a conversion of everything shitty that’s happened in my life over the past two years.’

The first in a series of limited releases from London’s Seance imprint is an attractive splatter artwork vinyl housing a 4 track EP from the elusive Bound.
‘Inspired by the grey melancholy of South East London’ says the artist’s Facebook page (and not much else)

Here comes a seven (yes count them) track remix package from David Thornton (one half of InnerCystem and co-founder of the Resonance club night in Birmingham) on the accomplished IOSYS label. I’ve reviewed InnerCystem’s excellent productions before but this was the first time I’ve heard David’s solo material, and what a pleasure it was. Enlisting heavyweight remixers from the Birmingham scene and beyond including Jake Conlon, Siege, James Jaymal and Retsof, the release is a fantastic example of a quality original getting a really diverse range of re-interpretations.

It’s been an absolute pleasure getting to know these new tracks from Najel Monteiro, a great set of fast paced tracks from the forthcoming EP on the UK label Forte Techno. I hadn’t been familiar with his work before this promo came my way, but I’ve enjoyed more and more since. The Rotterdam based producer […]

Chainsmoker runs his own imprint ‘Drone Groove Records’ and has previously also released material on UKR, Chicago Jaxx and Backspin. The forthcoming EP of Forte is out on 1 Dec and can be purchased via the Forte Techno bandcamp page here: https://fortetechno.bandcamp.com/album/jager

Forte Techno’s next instalment comes courtesy of a four track EP from Chris Page, whose music I first began to enjoy through his live sets as ‘Kontrol Room’ with partner in crime Dave Johnys. Since then, Chris has had a number of successful releases on Silent Storm, Sonntag Morgen and the mighty Decoy Records, as […]

The third release from the Dubtek imprint pulls no punches, and cements this labels place in the front of the pack of those pushing fresh UK techno. It’s a solid split EP from two of the most talented producers on the UK underground circuit, Jake Conlon and Hoth System.

I’ve been writing for Seance on and off for a couple of years now and its a special pleasure to be able to do a piece on head man (and still one third of The Clairvoyants) Spectralband. I’ve been able to see first hand how much time and thought this man puts into music, and since he started his own radio station and label (Seance), he has pursued an agenda of strictly underground artists and music, using his talents and deep knowledge to help the artists get the recognition they deserve.

Alex Morgan is a techno DJ & producer from Manchester with an increasing back catalogue of releases on labels such as Sleaze and Unknown Territory. He is also the co-founder of the popular Manchester techno night Rhythm Theory, who burst onto the scene a couple of years ago and who have since welcomed such respected acts as Slam, Inigo Kennedy, Norman Nodge, Roberto, Milton Bradley and Mike Denhert to town. Born and bred in Manchester, he is now firmly established on the local circuit, and has a new EP coming out on Lex Gorrie’s Unknown Territory imprint

After These Hidden Hands re-surfaced earlier this year with the collaborative single ‘These Moments Dismantled’ featuring Lucrecia Dalt, Tommy Four Seven and Alain Paul a.k.a. Shards are set to release ‘Vicarious Memories’, their second full length LP, on August 8th 2016.
