I’ve been writing for Seance on and off for a couple of years now and its a special pleasure to be able to do a piece on head man (and still one third of The Clairvoyants) Spectralband. I’ve been able to see first hand how much time and thought this man puts into music, and since he started his own radio station and label (Seance), he has pursued an agenda of strictly underground artists and music, using his talents and deep knowledge to help the artists get the recognition they deserve.

” I consider them different contexts that affect one’s mood positively or negatively depending in which phase you are in your life. Luckily for me, they were and are the right context for what I was/am doing at certain points in my timeline.”
Simon Heartfield has a musical lineage stretching back to the late 80’s as founder member of electro noise terrorists Twelve 88 Cartel (Bite Back!) and later bass player with John Peel Session faves the Psylons (Thunderbird). Following the well received debut release in 2015, the Forte Techno imprint returns to the fray with a second four tracker. It’s a huge pleasure to see small labels like this, run by people in it purely for the music, putting out consistently high quality discs. This one is distinctive in the range of ground […]
Seance returns to follow up on the labels first release featuring Kryss Hypnowave, DJ Datch and Edit Select with another EP of quality underground Techno this time with original material from the talented Alfred Kopke aka Ivo Polónia. Asphalt Layer – “Stasis Field” The debut long-player from Asphalt Layer (aka Tommy Harrison) comes after a series of well received, self-released EPs in the earlier part of 2015. The album is an impeccably produced and programmed set of ten tracks taking in a huge range of influences including dub, techno, bass, jungle, hip-hop, house […]
#UR67: DEMON.I/O (Subspecies / Dark Garden) written by Razeed (Geométrika FM) When you face something in life you have several options: destroy, observe or contribute. Today I interviewed one of those who chose the third option, Demon.I/0, clear example of person involved in the techno scene. Founder of Dark Garden and Subspecies, two sides of […]
The first EP on the newly launched Seance label comes from Kryss Hyponowave, aka Christian Scalas, of Lanusei in beautiful Sardinia. Christian is a trained sound engineer from the Academy of Sound Engineering in London, and has been producing and DJing since he was 15.
Subsist records (Valencia, Spain) has built up an extensive back catalogue of underground electronica & techno since its inception in 2010, featuring artists including Ntogn, Voidloss and SHXCXCHCXSH amongst many others. The 41st (yes, 41) release is the debut long player from Squaric, purveyor of self-defined “distorted rave”. The release has already received strong feedback from the likes of Pfirter, P.E.A.R.L, Pinion and Mike Stern, and features 8 tracks of powerful and experimental music. The intensity of the music is sometimes brutal, but is always done with flair, intelligence and a little playfulness. There is plenty here both for the listening head and the dancing floor – here are some of the highlights.
